Austrian Airlines: Traffic results for July 2018

Austrian Airlines continuously increases its passenger volume. Austria’s red-white-red carrier transported over 1.4 million passengers in July 2018, corresponding to a rise of 4.0 percent compared to July 2017. The strong performance of flights in Europe particularly contributed to this growth. The flight offering, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) was up by 4.3 percent. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) increased by 4.7 percent. Capacity utilization of the flights (seat load factor) was at an average of 85.6 percent in July 2018, which is 0.3 percentage points higher compared to the prior-year month. The number of flights climbed by 3.5 percent in July 2018 to 14,126.

Andreas Otto, Member of the Executive Board and CCO of Austrian Airlines, commented: “We are satisfied with our results even though chaotic weather situations as well as bottlenecks at air traffic controls and airports recently are queering our pitch too often. We are still working hard on a new passenger record for the year 2018.”

In the period January to July 2018, Austrian Airlines carried a total of roughly 7.8 million passengers, comprising a rise of 8.7 percent compared to the prior-year period. The flight offering in available seat kilometers (ASK) was up by 4.8 percent. Revenue passenger kilometers increased by 7.4 percent compared to the first seven months of 2017. Capacity utilization was up by 1.9 percentage points to 77.5 percent. The number of flights climbed by 5.1 percent in the period from January to July 2018 to 86,135.
